Have breakfast in the hotel and visit Chong Kneas Floating Village on TONLE SAP LAKE [the largest freshwater lake of South East Asia], about 10 Km from Siem Reap Town. Arrive at the dock and take a boat ride trip along a small stream to the village. Over 3000 inhabitants are real Khmers, their households made of wood and bamboo built on stilts of about 6m to 7m high.

During dry season when the lake is low and lacking water those buildings look like skyscrapers. At this time of the year many villagers move out onto the lake and build provisional stilted houses. In wet season while the water level rises up again, the dwellers move back to their permanent houses on the flood plain, the stilts now hidden under the water.

Head to one of the city’s lively open markets, Psar Chas, also called the “Old Market”, where anything and everything is for sale.

Continue to the Killing Field (Choeung Ek Museum), where between 1975 and 1978 about 17,000 men, women, children and infants detained and tortured at S-21 were transported for the examination. Upon arriving in Ha long, we will sail our boat round its natural rocky gardens whilst a tasty seafood lunch (local food) is waiting on board.
