Durga Bari : The 125-year old Durga Bari Temple, is the cultural capital of Bengalis in Yangon, and a reminder of a forgotten era when Bengalis were the most prominent class in Myanmar’s services sector.
Then drive through downtown to explore the city center and its fabulous mix of architecture and sites. The streets are filled with historical buildings many of which have a faded colonial charm not seen elsewhere in Asia. You’ll start at the post office – a lovely historic building, passing by Strand Hotel, Mahabandoola Garden and Independence Monument along the way. Then visit to the Botataung Pagoda is a famous pagoda located in downtown Yangon, Myanmar, near the Yangon River.
Botataung Area : Eminent author Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, lived at Botataung in downtown Yangon. The area was later converted into a military camp.
The pagoda was first built by the Mon around the same time as was Shwedagon Pagoda. After that visit to the National Museum and Kabar Aye Pagodawas only built during 1952. This pagoda is significant for the Sixth World Buddhist Synod which was held in its large precinct in 1954. Nothing will prepare you for Shwedagon Pagoda, with its glittering gold stupa. At the pagoda observe local pilgrims and monks offering their devotions and enjoy the amazing sunset view at Shwedagon pagoda. Overnight in Yangon.
